After my somewhat sobering review of the past year, I wanted to spotlight one area of my work in which I have achieved what I set out to this year, that of my podcast, A Different Way of Seeing.
I try to release an episode of the show every two weeks, or rather twice each month, totaling 24 episodes per year.
When it comes down to it, I’ve found that inevitably I’ve needed to skip at least one or two episodes in a twelve month period. Because, you know, sometimes life just gets in the way. Generally I’m happy with this. I believe it’s okay for me to skip an episode for a valid reason. Sometimes that’s how it goes.
To my utter amazement, this year appears to be the exception to that rule. To date I’ve released 21 episodes. I’m currently on track to achieve a perfect score of 24 episodes for 2025.
Of course, the year isn’t done yet so nothing is guaranteed. If I’ve learned one thing this year, it is that it’s dangerous to have expectations on what may happen in the future. However, all going well I’ll have all my scheduled episodes out on time.
I’ve had fun creating the episodes this year, continuing my focus on persons with disabilities who are in mainstream employment, publishing a number of shows on inclusive sport, and sharing a number of wonderful stories of people with disabilities from across the globe who are living exciting lives. By showcasing these stories I hope I create small shifts in raising awareness of what is truly possible for those of us in the disability community.
I’m currently sharing a little of my own story on the show, releasing two episodes on my journey from being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was six years old, through becoming blind in my early 20’s and unpacking the story of my chronic kidney disease, dialysis and the hope of a kidney transplant. It’s unusual for me to get this personal on the podcast, but it felt right to do it.
If you haven’t yet listened to my A Different Way of Seeing podcast and are curious to find out more about what I do, you’ll find the complete library of episodes at
Alternatively, you’ll find it wherever you usually listen to podcasts – just search for A Different Way of Seeing and it should pop up.
Creating this resource gives me great pleasure and I hope you’ll enjoy listening to the stories I’ve shared.
