Across the globe, people love sport. Every country has several sports that their population particularly supports. In South Africa, the favourites are cricket, football/soccer, and rugby, though these are by no means the only sports that are both played and supported passionately here.
As with so many other aspects of life, somehow people seem to assume that playing sport is beyond the capabilities of those of us living with disabilities. Yet, over the past few months I seem to be chatting with people who are introducing me to a growing number of adaptive and inclusive sports. For the point of this article, the difference between the two is that adaptive sport is played only by those with a particular disability, whereas inclusive sports can be played by persons with disabilities alongside those without.
I would love to see more non-disabled people who love sports showing a little love and support by listening to what I’m sharing on the podcast to learn about how their favourite sports are played by people with disabilities.
Below is a list of the podcasts I’ve produced that include information about how certain adaptive and inclusive sports are played. I will continue to spotlight additional sports as I become aware of them.
And, if you have a disability and play a sport that hasn’t been featured on my A Different Way of Seeing podcast yet, why not reach out to me and tell me about it.

In the coming weeks I hope to be able to share interviews focusing on blind soccer/football and wheelchair rugby. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy discovering how these sports are played by people with various disabilities.
Loved this detailed analysis, especially the part about [player/team name]. For more cricket news and match previews, SportDailyNow.com is my go-to source.
