When I asked people what they would like to know about my recent kidney transplant, I was surprised at the number of questions related to my diabetes. It’s certainly no secret that I’m a type 1 diabetic. And yet, it’ seldom something that I either talk or write about.
That has changed as a result of the questions I was asked by my community.
The result is that I’m starting to share stories and thoughts about what it was like growing up as a diabetic, some of the funny experiences I had, and how being a diabetic shaped my life.
I decided to create a playlist in my YouTube channel to share these stories. I considered calling it The Diabetic Diaries. Except that they’re not in the form of diary entries.
After more thought I landed on the title of The Diabetic Chronicles, since I’ll be chronicalling what life is like for me.
Being on insulin injections to help me manage the condition, I felt a subtitle including a reference to being a pincushion was appropriate,And the playlist The Diabetic Chronicals: Reflections on Life as a Pincushion was born. .
I’ve already shared the first videos on the playlist, and I’d love to ask you to take a visit to learn a little about my first experiences as a newly diagnosed diabetic.
Here’s where you can find them:
Let me know if there’s anything you’d particularly like to hear about and I’ll do my best to create something around your questions.
So, till next time, drop me a message with your questions. I’ll be waiting for them!
