As a podcast host I love having the opportunity to pose questions and listen as people share their lived experiences. I consider it to be an honour that people are willing to trust me with their truth on my show and try to always be mindful of the gift that is each person’s story.
It is less often that I am the one sitting in the hot seat facing the questions. But it’s something I hope will change this year, and have already taken steps to make that happen. In just this month I have been a guest on three different podcasts, which allows me to introduce myself to completely new audiences.
Even less frequently I get to share episodes of a show where I have been a guest with my listeners. In fact, I have done it only once – in my very first podcast of this year.
The show I’m sharing with you is an episode of the Reimagining Life – from Pain to Purpose Podcast, with host RiRi, which was recorded late in 2023. I love listening to RiRi’s voice – it is so smooth and comforting, although I swear I can hear her smiling throughout from the tone of her voice. You’ll have to give the episode a listen and see if you agree with me.
I was delighted when RiRi agreed for me to share the episode with my listeners. So that’s what I did.
In the episode I talk about some of the strategies I have used to help me reimagine my life multiple times since becoming blind at the age of 21 years old. I also speak about how I see some of the complex realities that impact on persons with disabilities here in South Africa. And, of course, I get to chat about my plans for my own podcast over the coming year.
It’s a conversation that I thoroughly enjoyed and I hope you’ll enjoy listening to it as well – just follow the link below and it should take you directly to the audio of the show.
